A book that mentioned Lindy Hop!

Dream When You're Feeling Blue: a Novel Dream When You're Feeling Blue: a Novel by Elizabeth Berg

My review

rating: 3 of 5 stars
This was a very quick read, and I enjoyed it for the most part. I love hearing about anything that takes place during the World War II era, and this hinted at family and daily life, women in the work force, expectations of civilians contributing to the "war effort", and so on. The story surrounds 3 sisters who are from a devout Irish Catholic family in Chicago. They spend their evenings going to USO dances and writing letters to the men in their lives, and bickering as sisters do. The family is hit with several different obstacles, and come through them all one way or another.

I was disappointed in the ending of the story though. It sort of left me wanting to find out, well, what else? What happened after that??? The final chapter sort of clues us in on what the rest of the sisters' lives were like after the war, but I kind of had the feeling of, "Oh. That's it??"

It's a good beach read.

first, let me say that I am honored you let me into this part of your world.
I know depression and it knows me intimately.
I am interested in your readings and admire the bravery and steps you are taking on a day to day basis to deal with it.

And let me just say this too..
You have been beautiful since you came into this world. I am lucky enough to remember that little baby and girl and see the young woman you are now.
You are so talented and filled with love and life. I remember thinking when I ran into you at the Gap how wonderful it was. YOU were as smart, fun, and outgoing as ever.

I will thoughtfully follow your journey and if I ever have a wise ass comment I will make sure to tell you!
LOL!!!
Love ya!
