I've been trying to come up with fun things to blog about. Right now I'm at a loss for words. I have random thoughts, and while I keep thinking to myself - "I have to blog about that!" I forget.
*THE FOLLOWING IS NOT FOR FOLKS WHO FREAK OUT OVER BLOOD*
I did have one exciting thing happen today... I donated blood WITHOUT PASSING OUT!!!! This is a first for me. :) The first time I ever donated, I was in high school, age 17. Everyone was so excited, because for most folks this was their first time. It wasn't nearly as weird as I had anticipated, and when I was finished, I was looking forward to those delicous cookies. I stood up, and 30 seconds later I woke up with my feet up and a nurse asking me if I was ok. Oops!! Stood up too quickly. I didn't donate for a while after that, and then a few years ago I was getting blood taken at the doctor's office, and the same thing happened - although this time I told her it was about to happen - the symptoms are always the key.
First, my stomach starts feeling a bit queasy. Then I start feeling a little lightheaded, and dizzy. This is when I freak out and think I'm going to puke, and to combat that feeling I suck in a few deep breaths. Unfortunately, I'm not doing anything to help my situation, and my eyesight starts to get a little blurry. I know I'm REALLY in trouble when my hearing starts disappearing (it sounds like the nurse standing one foot away from me is shouting through 6 blankets and a million cotton balls). Next thing I know, I'm on a medical table somewhere and my hearing is slowly starting to come back. It's a bit freaky.
Anyway, this is what happens to me whenever there is blood involved. I rarely donate, and it's because my nerves always kick in and the nervousness does not help my ability to stay conscious.
Today, I secured a small victory over that, and I WILL attempt to donate again in April. I think blood donation is great though, and it's one way I feel I am able to contribute to the community.
*END OF GROSS BLOOD STUFF*
The woman who gave birth to octuplets - see for some thoughts I agree with.
I totally fell off the wagon on my eating plan this week, but I DID manage to work out twice so far this week! Woot!!! (I deserved that cream filled donut this morning, dammit!) I'm gonna have salad all weekend.
I'll have more blog-fodder later on today, maybe tomorrow or Sunday. Stay tuned. :)
