The Last Summer by Ann BrasharesMy review
rating: 5 of 5 stars
I wasn't sure what to expect from an author who has only penned young adult novels until this one, but I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. I really loved the setting (any story that can put me on a beach when I'm really on my couch in the chilly October is fine by me), and I related very well to the characters. I saw bits of myself in Alice, bits of my own sister in Riley, and I know a few Pauls from all portions of my life. Although I read it in the fall - I would highly recommend you read it on a chair under an umbrella with your feet snug under piles of sand. Hopefully there is also an ocean and some sunshine.
