So, Jonathan and I are a little over halfway through our Phase 1 of the South Beach eating adventure. It's still difficult. But WECANDOOOOOIIIIIIIT! i think.
One thing I noticed after our first week is that my legs felt wobbly for about 3 days. They feel fine now, but I definitely wondered WTF that was all about. Cravings come and go. I don't want to drown in chocolate syrup mixed with full fat ice cream and 3 boxes of Girl Scout Cookies (Tagalogs, Samoas, and Thin Mints, of course).
Here, in fact, is a small photo of a typical lunch for me:
That's about a cup and a half of romaine lettuce with my homemade tuna "salad" on top. (half a can of tuna, half a hard boiled egg, and a tablespoon of miracle whip). About a cup's worth of mushrooms and grape tomatoes (i usually sprinkle with a pinch of sea salt), and a half a cup of celery sticks with a tablespoon of peanut butter. I get a cup of jell-o (sugar free, of course) for dessert.
one stupid thing i did was forgetting to eat my breakfast this morning. it sucked. I was hungry for about 3 hours today. and now I'm home, we had broccoli and about 6 ounces of grilled chicken breast topped with mild salsa. aaaaaaaaand I'm still hungry. :( Time to go find some nuts.
You know what sucks though? Commercials on TV. Pop Tarts. Mounds. Applebee's commercials. Pizza places. Cereal. Whatever comes on, we look at each other and go, "awww, I want ... (name that food)!!!!"
But we're trying.
